Please can someone help. Unable to find any information on Martin Lewis site.
Our daughter has been awarded a place to study in America but we have received the following email.
"After reviewing the documents, we need to see the first year of the tuition and living expenses in liquid funds. Please submit a bank letter or statement reflecting the amount for tuition and living expense for the first year.
Tuition for first year: $31,500/per yr (- $10,000 scholarship) + living expenses ($1900 estimated monthly cost x 12 = $22,800) = $44,300 "
We are thinking we may have to take out a bank loan for £28,000 in order to do this despite us having evidence of monthly salaries that would pay the funds.
Has anyone else been in this situation and overcome it in the cheapest way to provide evidence.
Thank you

Um... As you are finding out, study in the USA can be very expensive and the usual systems of student loans are not available for UK students studying there. So most people who go down this route are extremely wealthy and probably have the required money lying around.
Do be aware that your daughter will need to get a student visa for the USA, and I am confident that further financial documentation will be needed for this. There may also be a wait of many months for a visa interview...
I must say, I wonder why you are doing this. The best US universities are outstanding places for post-graduate study, but an undergraduate there will never get to see the outstanding scholars whose research generates the reputation, while the student experience at a leading UK or European university is likely to be far more demanding and fulfilling.0 -
You might look at the fulbright commission, which helps students from the UK going to the US, and vice versa. There's a lot of detail about funding, scholarships etc on there.
(can't post a link there because this is my first post).0 -
