best (women's) trainers brand?

I've used both asics and new balance trainers - both were comfortable, offered the support that I need and seem to last well.
I have to say that while I love my asics trainers, they were not cheaper than nike. My new balance trainers were quite cheap though - I got lucky and the model I picked out was available in sports direct for less than half price
Rather than looking for a particular brand I think it's best to go to a shop and try on several different pairs and see what feels right on you...then shop around and find out where you can get them cheapest.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Not enough love for Hi-Tec's on this thread.
They were never that cool when i was at school, but I'm sure things have changed now
Tbh if your trainers are going to go through heavy use, it's impossible to tell how they're going to hold out. I've ran a marathon in a pair of £6 Sports Direct trainers, so I'd suggest not spending more than you need to.0 -
Another vote for Asics, and for buying the best sports shoes you can.
Yes, you can run marathons in cheap shoes, but my husband has ruined knees from doing this 15 years ago.0 -
You should expect to pay for good quality shoes but look out for Debenhams sale as I got my Nike trainers from there for £29 rather than the actual price of £65ish.
Asics is indeed greatally.0 -
Saucony for me. I got my first pair properly fitted about 5 years ago and replace them once or twice a year. Mind you last time I tried to buy a pair they had gone up to £115 and I was lucky to get a pair of last seasons.
Trainers are so important if you are doing anything where you are running or jumping, pay as much as you can afford.0 -
I currently run in Addidas. I've also run in Nike, Brooks, Asics and New Balance. I find that Asics are a tad on the small size. And that's coming from someone with skinny feet!
Expensive isn't always better. My best pair were also the cheapest...
If your feet are small enough, I suggest the kids section.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Kids trainers have different levels of cushioning / fit etc than adults, even if they look the same there are subtle differences. For regular sports use I would caution against buying kids trainers.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I got my running analysed and bought a pair of Addidas trainers for £55 in the sales based on the advice I was given. They're pretty good, but nothing special. I then bought a pair of Karrimor trainers in the Sports Direct sale for £13.99 and they're so much better! I use them to walk to work in everydayDecember 2015: 12st

My feet seem to be made for Brooks - Brooks Ghost to be exact.
Recently needed to replace my Ghost 6 and went to be fitted out. Recommended I change to New Balance model and they destroyed my feet, so took them back to the store (Sweatshop offer a 30 day replacement guarantee!) and went for the Brooks Ghost 7 and it's like running on air for me. I have slightly wide feet and just need some light cushioning and they work for me.0
