Cost of Scaffolding

I'm doing my roof soon and will be needing full scaffolding for the job. Its a terraced house and will be needing scaffold front and back. Can anyone help with these queries before I start ringing around the companies:
1. How much is it likely to cost?
2. Do you pay by the day or week?
3. Will the company I hire from assemble the scaffold and is that likely to cost extra?
4. Do I have to request a pulley wheel as extra or is it standard?
Thanks

Cost will depend upon the size of your property.
Cost normally comprises an erection and dismantling charge and then a hire charge per week. The gin wheel would normally be charged separately.
Look up some local scaffolding companies in Yellow pages or https://www.yell.co.uk and ask them to come and give you some advice and a quote.0 -
It depends on exactly what work you're doing to your roof as to what type of scaffold you need - steel or aluminium towers - and whether you require access to the chimney(s) too.
It's a long while since I was in the business now (used to co-own a scaffold company) but generally steel works out cheaper to hire than alloy, but you would need them to erect it for you, and they usually charge by the week.
If you think you can manage to work from a mobile tower then you can hire and erect these yourself from most large hire shops, like HSS, and this would be your cheapest option, or if you didn't feel confident to do that there are scaffold companies that will build it for you.

I use a guy that charges about £10 per sq mtr. (Height x width of front) + 2 mtrs over height. Tbis is normally 10-12 days.0

We actually bought second hand scaffolding when we did our extensions - we knew it would be up for 6 months or something (OH doesnt work quick
) and it was the cheapest option as you can sell it again when you finish. Mind you, youd have to be confident putting it up or know a scaffolder willing to do it for you.

Hi,
We've got scaffolding up at the minute on a 3 bed semi up to the chimney. Its costing us £550 for 4 weeks and they have assembled it and will be taking it down.
Its definitely not cheap!
