HELP- Sofa falling apart

We moved into our new home in November 2012 and at the time we were a bit strapped for cash so we bought some cheap leather reclining sofas from Ebay. They were advertised as leather on the areas of contact and faux leather on all other areas. A two seather and a three seater set cost me £600.
The sofas came with a one year guarantee, which is now over, but recently we have noticed the leather starting to peel and crack. One of the recliner seats don't recline any more either. We have looked after the sofas well and we hardly ever use them as we prefer to sit in our kitchen/dining area.
I know we only paid £600, but I was expecting them to last at least five years. Is there anything I can do to get my money back? Or even a partial refund? I have contacted the company and they said there's nothing they can do as we are out of the guarantee period.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Would this apply for my situation too? And what's the best way to proceed?0
