Travel Money Card in Canada

I am moving to Canada for one year in September. I have looked in to opening a Canadian bank account online here in the UK but by the looks of it I need to be over their when opening it.
I've had a look online and came across a Travel Money Card from the Post Office. You preload it with the funds you plan on taking and use it like a debit card. I am just wondering if I could walk in to a bank with the card and transfer the money in to the new account?
Thanks

Never heard of the card over here. Is it just like a debit card?

Are you moving as a student or for an employer? If it's work, contact the HR office and ask about banking for payroll purposes.

You will almost certainly have to withdraw cash with the card to pay into the account. There will be daily limits as to how much you can take at a time.

    Worth asking though
