It is perfectly possible that you now have a black mark on your credit record - so check and include that in your complaint.0 -
Honey / sugar attracts more bees than !!!!!!
Same with words, be polite, do not be offensive, do not be aggressive, be succinct, do not ramble
As advised, write real letter, on real paper and put in real envelope with a real stamp.
That way some, a real person has to open it, record it as received, read it and most importantly, put in some ones real in tray, on a desk, and not an internet one, where a click of mouse gets rid of that pile of today's whingers
The real in tray, on a desk eventually gets noticed
In fairness in my experience any postal correspondence is received, scanned in to the email system and placed in the same queues that emails are placed in exactly the same system as electronic communication. Usually all using post will do will cause a delay in response.0 -
Scottish power sends an auto-acknowledgement to e-mails.
This has been quite helpful, because SP have previously written to tell me they have had no correspondence from me about an account issue, but I had their e-mails of acknowledgement to my correspondence.0 -

I agree
I've worked with companies that do work for large utilities and everything is electronic now. Maybe 10 years ago when e-mail was still a bit esoteric paper letters got processed differently, but all that happens now is the details of a letter get scanned/noted and logged electronically same as email. Writing a letter to a large company just gives it a chance for it to get physically lost in a labyrinthine internal post system even if they do acknowledge receipt of it.

I also understand the frustrations of the OP. The main one being that there is nothing we can do. We can send scottish power letters, emails or carrier pigeons, but until they sort their IT systems out it will make absolutely no difference to what the computer does or doesn't fire out (at the moment I'm getting letters asking for last months payment which is clearly recorded in the online balance and has been acknowledged as being paid in apologetic phone calls and emails from SP, but does it make a difference? no.)0
