Mortgage insurance..confused what to look for?

Ok my partner has a monthly premium he pays incase he is ill which will pay off his current loan repayments, it pays out straight away and pays £700 per month roughly.

I have nothing! as my loan is not too high to manage even if i lost my job.

I am self employed and employed he is employed and as we are about to buy our first house we need cover for mortgage payments, sickness, accident, life???

I have been on a couple of compare sites and don't know wether it's better to get it joint or do it seperatly, as i'm self employed does it make a big difference?

Ahh don't know where to start and what we need...help please!!
