Thinking of moving...and renting??

We bought our house back in December 2005 for an excellent 4.240% fixed for 3 years with Alliance and Leicester.
Sounds great but we are considering moving abroad (to Dublin) before the fixed rate finishes which not only would mean enduring an early repayment fee (almost £4k) but an admin fee of about £300.00.
What we wondered was whether we would be able to rent out our house to cover the mortgage (are there any tax implications?) and then rent in Ireland (as house prices are actually going down there!!) meaning we don't get caught out with the early charges - this would mean renting the house for a year.
I'm finding that you really need to be careful if you want to move abroad....just stupidly also tied myself into an 18 month mobile contract with Vodafone!!!
