Frustrated beyond belief,
I am using an Actiontec wireless router without problem with my desktop. But I wish to use a second device with the router and it asks me for the WEP to allow the device access. Unfortunately the paperwork with the WEP written on it has been discarded during a recycling purge. Is it possible to retrieve the correct WEP from somewhere on my desktop? Or is there a system for resetting the WEP on the router and inputting a new one?
please someone put me out of my misery!

Log in to the router's settings, the procedures for which will be in your manual."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

superscaper,
that would be the paperwork that was incoveniently discarded......and then the window licker said to me...0 -
So download the manual and read it. WEP can be cracked in minutes so you should be using WPA-PSK anyway. If your equipment can't support this encryption, your data and privacy is at risk and you should consider new equipment!
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Yep, I'd assumed that I didn't need to explicitly state that, also assumed the actual manual for a currently used piece of equipment wouldn't have been binned:

These things happen. So long as you get the problem sorted. Probably best only having virtual manuals anyway. I'm such a packrat I can see the advantage of cutting down on existing papers etc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

albertross,
Thanks for posting this little application. It did the job very quickly and simply. Even a novice like me found it simple to recover a lost WEP....and then the window licker said to me...0
