    sorry you lost me?!?
i'm not sure how else i could have explained that - i think you need to speak to someone on your course, a tutor or lecturer, because even part-way through your first year, the sentences that i wrote really shoudn't have been impossible to understand (i have marked first year work at a couple of unis)...... you should have a grasp of what an ANOVA main effect and interaction means - it will be really important for your next two years. i can only recommend the Andy Field stats textbook as that is probably the best one out there at the moment.

It's all a process of learning. All us psych students who did a degree in psychology went through the same :)

And the Hugh Coolican stats book isn't great at all. I echo melancholly and recommend the Andy Field one (second edition I think it is) which I discovered on my postgrad course. Wish I had it when doing my undergrad degree.

Real World Research by Robson is quite useful.

For more advanced stats Tabaknik and Fidel using multivariate statistics (now 5th ed i think) is good - but unlikely to be needed for the purposes of an undergraduate degree unless you do something particularly interesting for your final year project, but you will receive guidance from your supervisor then anyway.
