Pet Insurance - When is it worth claiming?

Hello

Have 2 kittens insured with decent pet insurance. Taking one to the vet this morning as she has a limp. Probably just a sprain.

Is it worth claiming for these type of minor visits? My concern is that it will affect future premiums and therefore is it not worth claiming. Perhaps use the insurance for a biggy should it arise...

Also, do I need to tell the insurer about this in case it needs to go on some sort of record???

Do you have a "Life time" cover policy or a normal policy?

Depends what policy you have - and you may get a better response on the 'Pet Section' but with any claim there will be an amount where you pay the first part (maybe £75.00 or £95.00) and they pay the balance. So it's not the problem but the value that's the important factor.

My cat is ten, and had dental work estimate 350 -750, glad of the insurance - came out at the lower end.
Saw Supervet of TV - operation more in the region of £1500 !!
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard

If you don't claim for it there's a chance that should it develop into a medical condition later in the cat's life eg a hip problem that it won't be covered due to it being classed as a pre existing medical condition.

If you claim for it then future complications due to the same medical condition or conditions connected to it will be covered providing LV do not place an exclusion on future renewals.
