Gosh, where has the weekend gone? Happy Mothers Day to mothers everywhere, whether on this plain or the next as my mum is and I miss her like crazy. DS1 has given me a nice bottle of wine and hoovered half the house so far and I'll catch up with DS2 later today.

    So this weekend I have/will:

    Done various bits of housework
    Washer on overnight
Walk up and down to work
    B/L/D from stores
    Check one poll , etc
    Sort banking out
List some eBay things...they are lined up but not listed.
Go through cupboard to find some paint to do my dads bannisters.

    Have a nice Sunday everybody.

Hi MM -sorry about your mum. I'm glad to hear your children are spoiling you. How is your dad now? Sorry if I've missed you saying this already.

I woke up to a lovely home made card from my son. And now he and my OH are cooking bacon and eggs for breakfast. Such a treat.
I had a funny turn yesterday afternoon having been fine all day I suddenly felt awful on the bus home and went straight to bed as I was freezing and feeling dizzy. I just stayed there so slept from before 10pm till this morning. So I'm well rested. Have o idea what set that off other than the temperature is just so unstable this weekend. Freezing, then coat off warm back to freezing again. Hope today will be better.

    Have a wonderful day all.

  • Morning everyone Happy Mother's day to all Mothers here :A Today is a difficult day for us, and the start of a difficult week.

The older posters know for the past 8 months we have had custody of our dgd as my dd has MH issues and has been quite unwell for some time. We go to court on Tuesday to finalise gaining legal custody of her. It is a difficult time for my dd. She is starting to get well now, and we are all going out for Sunday dinner, with her (paternal) grandmother. For my dd & dgd there will be 4 generations at the table :D Hopefully things will start to improve for us as it has been a very rocky 2 years.

On Friday my oh was brave and tackled his employer about the raise they have been promising for ever and got a £200 take home pm raise :T

    Small things today:

    * will do a couple of loads of washing & hang up on dryer indoors (1 down 1 to go)
    * cook whole chicken in sc and portion up and freeze
    * cook YS mince int chilli in SC and freeze in portions
    * photography & list some bits on ebay/facebay
    * list a couple of things on freecycle
    * box up some bits for charity
    * do an hours work later
    * make muffins, pasties & biscuits for dgd's packed lunches for the week
    * watching a couple of bundles of clothes for dgd on ebay
    * updated ss

Other than that I intend to have a nice day with dgd & dd

Thank you for asking, Bob. He was let out Friday and is already playing up big time, refusing to be sensible with everything. I had hoped the hospital stay would have scared him a bit and made him adopt a few better habits, but it seems not. He is driving DS2 mad with worry, so I am going to give him a good telling off today...probably won't do any good, but might make me feel better, lol.

    Morning folks

Happy mothers' day to all the mums here

DNMS - all the best for today, and congrats to your OH

Bob - there was a very nasty bug that went round my office that sounds very much like what you described - dizziness, temperature all over the place etc. Hope you take it easy and feel better soon :)

Had a nice relaxing night with my Victorian Kitchen Garden DVD and a bottle of wine ;) rock and roll chez Fanta.

    Today's list:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Tend to seedlings
    • Bit of home waxing (ow ow ow)
    • Sliced up meatloaf and froze individual slices
    • Saved a plastic cake tray as it's exactly right for a plant pot saucer
    • Write rough meal plan for next week
    • OH will appear briefly before going to play another gig. Hope he gets home safely.
    • Probably do some crochet. I really want to finish my spring afghan this year. I'm working on one for each season. I have a lovely snowflake one that is my winter one. (This is not actually the one I made, but is the pattern I used)
    Snowflake%20pic.JPG
    • Think I will mostly be relaxing today. I may go for a walk, depending on how the weather looks. It's supposed to be dry here today, but it's a bit dismal.
    Have a good day folks

Carrie -what a beautiful piece. You are very talented! Thanks for the bug info too. Interesting.

Determined -I hope today will mark the start of a better time for your family. Especially giving DGD the stability all children crave. And brilliant news on husbands pay rise!

MM - Really hope your Dad behaves himself. What a worry you don't need.

    Hello everyone,
Hope all Mums having a nice day. I'm also sending good wishes to non-Mums on here too, such as myself. I don't have any children, but I make sure I have a nice start to the day by phoning my Mum to see if she liked her gift......she did! (I didn't tell I paid £8 for a £32 gift, lol!)
Only a few things today but am being good:
*Potted up baby tomato plants. Wish it was a warmer day for them, but have covered them with clear plastic containers & will put an old tablecloth over them tonight.
    *Watered all my other seedlings.
*'Free' Sunday dinner to use up the pork slices & gravy I froze a couple of weeks ago.
*Mr f has had to work 11.00- 15.00. He made himself some lunch to take with him to keep him out of the coffee shops....then ate it at 10.30. Hmm.
    *Read meters & update spreadsheet.
*Set washer for overnight laundry on Economy 7 tariff.
*Carry on knitting my gorgeous yarn. Keep stopping to stroke it.
Bob - Sounds like you are fighting a bit of a bug to me, but some of it could be anxiety related after a worried week. Treat yourself kindly today, & as my Dad says, "Remember you're a human being & not a robot". Bacon & eggs v good start!
DNMS - Hope your daughter continues to mend. Sadly, mental health problems are not uncommon among young people & don't always get picked up quickly enough. Hope your 4 generation meal goes well, that's quite a clan!
Ok, time to fetch my pint of water (new daily healthy free habit!), then get my knitting needles clacking.
    Cheers all,
    F x

P.S Carrie, that throw pattern is gorgeous. I have a crochet pattern for a lovely throw but filed it when I saw it would cost around £130 to make.......& my crochet skills are at best extremely basic......chain, doubles, trebles only. Am defo a knitter.

This was cheap as I used cheapo acrylic yarn. I think 7 balls in total for £1.49 each. The pattern is actually much simpler than it looks - all basic stitches. I think the most involved is a dtr :)

    Afternoon DFW-Jedis,

Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity.

Been gardening all day. After the recent Winter the back garden looked like a bomb had hit it. We need to get the veg and herbs under way and cheer up the garden with flowers:

    The List:

:starmod: Post another book I sold on eBay. OH is going to sell some story tapes too.

    :starmod: Do i-Say surveys.

    :starmod: Do Royal Mail Surveys.

:starmod: Found a free local running club. Going to sign up today.

:starmod: Clean, dry and erase last year's plant labels so they can be re-used.

:starmod: OH planted garlic, potato, white onion and red onion.

:starmod: Free lettuce seeds from Homebase via a coupon.

:starmod: Free seedling pots from Homebase. They give them away.

    :starmod:
Free exercise: digging over a plot that's going to hold some shrubs, a fruit bush and rhubarb. Digging in compost we made ourselves.

:starmod: The damaged water dish on the bird feeder has been replaced with a ceramic one from a charity shop.

:starmod: OH took cuttings off our indoor fuchsia, these will go outdoors eventually.

:starmod: Wash and dry three solar lights from the garden. See if they can be repaired.

:starmod: Ignore Mother's Day and hope it goes away.

:starmod: Tidy up the one remaining herb pot in the kitchen. Planted seeds in the three derelict pots.

:starmod: Read up on what to do with the begonia and gladioli corms(?) we over-wintered.

:starmod: Took overgrown, sickly looking spearmint and mint out of trough in garden, filled with new soil, replanted the healthiest looking bits.

:starmod: Gave OH modest birthday gifts that were mainly bought using cash raised by eBaying our unwanted things.

Good luck on your quests, Jedis.
