If the postie didn't bother trying to deliver the first time why would he try again the second time?
Because people tend to book redilivery dates for when they will be at home.

I have already made an official complaint.
As for the doorbell, it works and can be heard from outside as well as inside. Both the doorbell or a knock on the door will cause a mad couple of minutes barking from the dog as well as being audible from the kitchen, where I was.

I'm sure this has happened before as recently we have had a few cards but assumed that we were out when he called. Today provided proof that that was probably not the case.

I was at home on the original delivery but that didn't stop him putting the card through the door.

If he hadn't brought the parcel, he'll have probably already had the card written, ready to post and run!

Custardy will deny it happens, but it does. I have a clear view of the letterbox and driveway from my desk and have seen posties walk down and drop the red card in with the post in a matter of seconds, with absolutely no attempt to knock or ring the bell. When I've noticed the card, I've run after him, and yes, he hasn't even got it in the van!
I'm sure that is what happened to me.

a vague recollection of custardy stating that sometimes posties were sent out without the larger parcels for redelivery and were told to put"we missed you" cards through the door? Something to do with problems loading larger parcels onto vans but not wanting to admit failure to deliver?
    Thats a bit dishonest.

Did you see that Gadget Show this week - there was a feature on how you can turn an old mobile phone into a CCTV camera; now catching the sod doing that would be interesting...
