isn't there an online tool where users add their MPG so you get some real-world figures? Was it HonestJohn?

The scientific approach would be to use Planck's theorem of derived traction in conjunction with Newton's third law of motion.

Just input factors such as tyre size and tread depth, ambient temperature, altitude, weight of driver and length of ariel mast.

Based on the information you have given us, this formula would predict a distance of about 40 miles.

Did you use Planck's theorum as above or use a different method to calculate your consumption

    £10's worth?

You wont be able to work out the mpg accurately by just putting £10 in.

The gauge maybe in a similar position but it wont be linear. You maybe able to drive another 40 miles before the needle moves again.

I was sitting in the traffic today and my fuel light came on saying 50 miles left, 5 miles down the road i had enough fuel left to do 76 miles and the light had gone out.

The easiest way to get an accurate figure is, fill the tank full. Drive 50 miles then fill up full again.

In a little Micra, i'd be expecting about 60 miles from a tenner.
