Case Management Conference - what is it?

Hi,
Apologies if something similar has already been asked, but, I've been pursuing a claim against the HSBC since March, and it has since gone to the court stage. I received a letter in June asking me to attend a 'Case Management Conference' at my local county court on 16th August (now just over a week away - yikes!).
I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what a 'Case Management Conference' is? Is it just a fancy name for a hearing? What do I need to do during the conference, and how can I prepare? In addition, is it likely that it will even go ahead, what with the OFT test case?
I'd greatly appreciate any advice - thanks in advance.

A case management conference sometimes referred to as a CMC is basically ahearing to decide what needs to be done to get the matter ready for trial. In your case you should expect the bank to apply for the case to be stayed pending the hearing of the OFT case. You are entitled to object to the case being stayed. If you check the threads I have posted a couple of arguments for why they should not be stayed. I believe that the CAG may also have some arguments on thier site. I have found that if you are polite and give short brief arguments which sound as if they are sound in law the Judge will listen.
I hope that assists
