Misdelivered mail

Options
Not talking about receiving mail to someone who used to live at your current address.

What I am talking about is when post gets slipped through the net and get delivered to the wrong address.

Today I received three items of mail, only one was addressed to me. One was for the same number property but in the next street. I walked to the property and posted that item through the letter box.

The other one was the same house number as mine, but the numbers on the postcode were reverse and 20-22 miles away. For example my post code is AA7 6BB. This letter, something from a govt dept had postcode AA6 7BB. I popped it back in the post. Hopefully they get it tomorrow.

When I came back from shopping, I found another item of mail addressed to me in my postbox. Someone who was kind enough like me to put my post to me.

It makes me mad when people just throw misdelivered mail in the bin. Pop the item in the post if its not around the corner and it won't cost anything.

I used to get misdelivered mail quite often when I lived in Leeds as I lived in a road where the other roads nearby all had the same first bit - Hill Cllose, Hill Street, Hill Approach, Hill Gardens etc.

We consistently get mail for the same number in the next street, although they don't seem to get ours. In fact, we probably get more of their mail than our own. We always post it back to them, although they have stopped thanking us recently and now just sort of 'expect' us to do it for them, and have actually become really rude to us. They knocked on our door demanding a letter which we didn't have and they started accusing us of stealing it or opening it! We've started amassing it in a pile next to the door and will hand it all to them if they come over, but we're not walking around to their house any more. In fact, tempted to actually bin it all.

We've actually collared the Postie about it and all he's done is smirked, shrugged and walked off. Lovely!

A complaint should be made by you to the local sorting office about the postman's lack of care. Secondly if the owners of the mail come knocking again just tell them that because of their rudeness all their mail is now put back in the post box and they should also make an official complaint.
    It's someone else's fault.

I would put it back in the nearest post box with "deliver as addressed not (insert name of your road)

    File a complain.
People these days don't really appreciate. That's rude of them.

Just write "RTS" (return to sender) on the letters and send back in the letter box. And then complain to your local office.

I would shove all future post to this couple back into the post box. If you do end up getting it posted back, then complain.

How different are the street names or postcodes?
