Advice on cancelling flights wanted

Booked some flights with Thomson Fly yesterday, unfortunately something has come up and we need to either cancel them or rearrange them. My question is, do I have any rights to cancel without charge in a certain time period or do these sort of rights not apply in this instance?
We will probably rearrange them anyway for different date, but I would like to know. If it is the case that we cant cancel without charge, why do these rules not apply to airlines?
Steve.

I can't find anything regarding cancellation on their Terms and Conditions.

Fear not - Martin's Article on consumer rights states that for internet purchases the UK's Distance Selling regulations provide 7 days for you to cancel the contract. :D

    Steve.

Because the airline did not send an unsolicited salesman to your house to sell you the tickets - that, and some types of financial product, are where you have some sort of cooling-off period

The DSR definitely do NOT apply to travel arrangements.

    The terms and conditions state:
All bookings are non-refundable. Changes may, however, be made to your booking, subject to availability, as well as the conditions and charges stated on this website.

    Very interesting.Further clarification is reqd.
    From the article Crabman mentioned
You've a right of seven days to cancel

Under Distance selling regulations, you have seven working days to cancel after receiving the goods or if it's a service you have seven working days to cancel the contract, which actually means you have more rights when you buy stuff on the web (or mail order) than you do for buying in a shop (this doesn't apply to fresh food, flowers, or sealed audio equipment).

However, take care of the goods while you've got them as you have to send them back in reasonable condition.

    Travel arrangements are definitely exempt.

Thanks dmg24. So basically when we tick the box, we waive our cancelation rights.
