A very interesting article about the economics of being a gay member of a boy band:

replace the inevitable !!!!! with the word for a female canine.

Regardless of sexuality, I strongly believe that every £1 spent on the records (or tours) of so-called 'boy bands' is £1 wasted.
Nevertheless, the generation wasting all their money on such trash are being sucked off by their peers rather than the boomer generation that is somehow wrongly accused of milking this generation.
Boomers never did anything to milk the young. No need. They do it to themseves perfectly well on their own.
We were brought up with music at a time when gays didn't exist. South Korea still doesn't have them. I know that because their government says so.0 -
No Dusty Springfield/Johnny Mathis/Engelbert Humperdink/Freddie Mercury when you were a smaller simian I guess?0

No.
Cliff Richard, Village People, or listening to Liberace.
I was watching 'Pointless' only the other day. One subject was Top 40 single artists in 2012. When the answers were given, I honestly had not even heard of any of them! I am extremely proud of this, as I am of never having watched and episode of Eastenders, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale......
The only exception being pre-1963 Coronation Street before my mother died. I was a 'lad' and she watched it so I was forced to. I would just love to know if Ena Sharples, Martha Longhurst, and Minnie Cauldwell are still in it.
Maybe I'm out of touch, but I'm happy to be so. I wouldn't recognise Beyonce if he slapped me in the face.0 -
The article mentions One Direction and says that they are all heterosexual. If ever a manufactured boy band played around with sexuality however, it's One Direction.
Fans of 1D call themselves Directioners and a proportion of them ship Larry Stylinson. Translated from Teenspeak this means that they support and root for, an alleged relationship between two members of the band, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. No-one knows whether they are or were in a relationship.
There was a public acknowledgement to a fan on video, by Harry, years ago and they both signed a 'marriage certificate' drawn up by a fan. Harry told a reporter on video that Louis was his first crush. Louis wore a 'Sorry Chicks I Like D*cks tshirt (asterisk is mine). They have lived together. One asked the other for a BJ and a microphone picked it up. At least twice they've been caught in camera mouthing 'I love you' and several times trying to get away with surreptitious caresses. There is literally loads of stuff, caught on video.
It could all be fake, right down to the tattoos with the first words they said to each other. It could be management-led fan manipulation to make them fit the boyband formula, to seem hip, cool etc. Or it might be a past or present relationship which management is trying to keep in the closet.
The article mentions Lance Bass. He married his boyfriend in December, but he had a beard (fake girlfriend) for seven years.0 -

Oh, I don't know, I've spent a few quid on The Temptations, and I don't think any of that was wasted. Granted, they aren't a 'boy band' these days, I think Otis Williams must be 70 or more by now , but they were back in 1964.Loughton_Monkey wrote: »...We were brought up with music at a time when gays didn't exist. Are you sure you don't mean North Korea? I know that Bolsheviks have always had a 'thing' about homsexuality, in that it was supposed to be a sign of capitalist decadence and thus we-don't-have-that-sort-of-thing-here.0 -

All I know is Pharell Williams. Which is maybe because he seems to spend his time trying to be Marvin Gaye. The article mentions One Direction and...
I'm sorry, but that is far too much information. There is only one thing any sane person needs to know about One Direction, and that is that they are carp.:)0 -

I would pay good money to be slapped by Beyonce...or Rihanna
You could just tell Mrs michaels that while closing your eyes and playing a Rihanna song in the background....
I imagine it would end up with much the same experience....:D“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
