Two Credit files???

Anybody know the answer to this? I just checked my credit report at checkmyfile and it has given me all details of accounts held in my married name, but none in my maiden name?

It does however show the IVA which was started in my maiden name? Have the accounts in my IVA been consolidated into that information or because it was more than 6 years ago, have they been wiped?

So confused.

Does your maiden name show as an alias somewhere on the report? (not sure where exactly it would show on checkmyfile but it should have an alias section somewhere).

If all the accounts you held in your maiden name defaulted more than 6 years ago then they would no longer show.

  • Yes, my maiden name shows as an alias. I'm confused though since the old accounts in my maiden name aren't showing. They must still be there somewhere since my IVA covered these.

    How ridiculously confusing. Ha ha.

As Tixy said, if the accounts were over 6 years old they will no longer show on your file. Your file only shows your account details going back over the past 6 years. Any information before that will no longer be visible.
  • Yes I understand that. I have a failed IVA with these accounts in it. There arena few which didn't confirm the debt with the IVA, does this mean they're gone and nothing to worry about now as will be classed as statute barred? Also, the IVA is meant to be cleared off my credit file in 3years and 30 weeks, would that leave the accounts on the IVA statute barred?

You haven't paid anything towards the debts since the IVA failed?

The IVA debts would become statute barred 6 years after the IVA failed unless a creditor takes court action before that (or unless you make a payment or acknowledge the debts in writing).

  • It hasn't officially failed as of yet so the debts are still currently covered by the IVA until date of failure which is any day now. I've been informed I cannot make any payments towards them until final figures of distribution come back.
The ones that's never confirmed I haven't paid anything towards as I wasn't aware they were not included. No one has contacted me since regarding these debts.
