Paying in a cheque with an iPhone.

Barclays are trialling a new system which allows you to pay in a cheque using your iPhone. If you receive a cheque you submit a photo of it and enter a few details via their mobile banking app. This idea sounds revolutionary and would come in very handy. I had to queue up in the bank to pay in a road tax refund and wished that the scheme was fully up and running as branch visits are not particularly convenient for me. What do other readers think of the idea? Do you think that it might be a gift horse for fraudsters?

It's not exactly 'revolutionary', a relative was over from the States last week and was telling me how they've had that for some time now and it works really well.

I did ask what she did with the actual cheque and she said they pin them on the kitchen noticeboard until it's all gone through then tear it up and throw it out with the 'trash'.
