Finishing Touches and extras error

Hello,
I am a first time buyer and i have bought at house with Persimmon. I have just completed selecting my finishing touches. I was quoted and signed for a price of roughly £4400 total with a %30 deposit payable immediately. This is well within what i was expecting for the various things my wife and I picked, however i have just received a call that they had added the sums up wrong and my actual price is £6200! I am currently trying to chase up with the area manager as i am aware that mistakes happen but to suddenly be told i need to pay that much when everything had been agreed and papers signed to that affect is a bit of a joke. The customer care have been less than helpful.
Does anyone know that, the fact i have signed the documents means they cannot go back on the price we agreed unless I resign/agree?

What does it say in your T&Cs about the cost of the extras? Any mention of estimated cost?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

I'd just tell them they signed for the 4400 and you expect them to honor it. In my experience, the extra's through builders are well overpriced compared to average market pricing anyway (i.e. charging 700-800 pounds for a dishwasher that retails for 400 pounds etc.), so I doubt they're going to be loosing any money at the originally quoted price...0

I have read online posts from other Persimmons' buyers who went and got their own 'extras' for a lot less than they had been quoted. I know it's not an option in your case but may work for someone.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

It's not a Persimmon development in the South West is it? Ours was added up incorrectly (not as big a difference as yours) but I found this out myself by adding up the extras on the copy of the invoice I was given on the day we chose our Finishing Touches.
Did you get a copy of the invoice given to you? If it states on there £4400, then I don't see how they can change the prices by £1800 when all prices are in the booklet!
Good luck with customer care when you've moved in...!0 -
I think before going further you need to find out the nature of the error. I don't think it is good enough for them to say "We'd like another £1800 because of an unspecified error" Ask them to detail it and compare it with what you were given originally.0
