But they're not? It's not a tax. The BBC are also not solely funding this, as evidenced by the many corporations also paying for this.
The BBC is the figurehead because part of its remit is to educate and its reach is greater than the likes of BT, Google and Samsung, hence them all pooling their resources together to educate children in this country.
You can choose not to support this project, but you'll have to give up watching live television. Which you obviously don't as you're so anti-BBC.;)
You obviously haven't been following the debate about the licence fee as the charter is up for renewal.
As for educating the children of this country - strangely enough I thought that was the government's job not a consortium of corporations.
As I said the tv licence fee is nothing more than a compulsory tax - sooner they scrap it the better0 -

It is if they had one - hence compulsory.
Of course if they drive then they have to pay their car tax (have already thought of that comparison!) but with the tv licence its paid by people who don't necessarily use the service.
And of course there are people who can use the service without paying the tv licence fee....anyone anywhere in the world can use the iplayer service....why is that fair when students in halls of residence each have to buy a tv licence ?0 -

So you're advocating to pay more tax to fund something like this? You people are nothing if not consistent in your rapid inconsistency.;)gettingtheresometime wrote: »As I said the tv licence fee is nothing more than a compulsory tax - sooner they scrap it the better
