BT phone number?

Does anyone know a phone number for BT that doesn't take me to an Indian Call Centre?
I am trying to find out what will happen to my pre paid years line rental if I take a broadband package.
Been on the phone to "call centre" and I can't get any sense out of them - they just seem intent on selling me a broadband package (which I haven't decided on yet) until I know what happens to the money I have already paid.
Can anyone help?

You keep the line rental until it expires .
Then either pay line rental monthly or an advance payment again .
It does mean they are out of sync but broadband contracts are usually 18 or 24 months anyway .
Take line rental from another company and you lose what's left of your BT advance cheap rate line rental .0 -
Wot he said. Nothing will happen to it-they will be separate contracts (if both with BT).
LRS is not refundable, if that's what you're asking. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thank you both for that.
Have been looking to order Broadband online (because of the call centre problem) but they all include the line rental cost as well (which has already been paid) so am unsure how to get around that. I thought it would be simpler to phone!
Also, I have always had "unlimited" but have been looking at one of their deals at 40 gb usage instead.
I have no idea what this equates to.
I don't watch films/ tv or download music on the PC but use it 2-3 hrs most days.
I use email, download loads of pics etc (into crafts/ pinterest etc) and shop online.
Do you think 40gb would be enough?
I know it's like saying "how long is a piece of string"? but help!!!!!0 -
40-GB will be enough .
Order on line it should show as paid before completion or use the live chat feature from your account BT Help pages . You type they type back in English .0 -
Log into your online account and it should give you upgrade options including broadband. But I wouldn't use BT to start with.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'm with Virgin at the mo and as I have got my phone line with BT, (don't want hastle of changing my number etc) thought it would just be easier at this point in time to put them together.0

BT sales teams are UK based, just dial 150 and pick the sales option.0
