Finally got my refunds, and that marks the LAST time I will even look at their website! Total nightmare from start to finish!

Is it only me who thinks it should be illegal for online companies to take the money before checking that the order is in stock? M&S, for example, don't debit your account until they've physically packed the items for delivery. Boohoo just take your money and then tell you "sorry, no stock" and they only tell you that (via auto email) when you practically have to beg! They did NOT inform me of any of this until I asked, and I'm not happy to have got an auto-email after all my stress.

I did a quick test and it seems to also work on items they have been selling for ages, eg the faux fur coats I tried to order in November.

Thanks for posting this, I hope someone gets good use out of it but sadly I have really had my fingers burned by BooHoo :-(

I've never had much bother with items being out of stock before, so no idea if it's something other companies do?

A recent Boohoo order was marked as "Despatched" on the 5th, while an earlier one, on the 2nd, sat "Waiting For Delivery" for ages.

Had to phone them this morning and they said it was out of stock and cancelled it. No email saying it was OOS. Was left with the feeling that I'd have to chase it up myself! And yes, they took the money, but I'm getting a refund now.

Because I was choosing things from the sale, I had a feeling it would be hit and miss. Some of the faux furs are amazing for the reduced price: £20.

Absolutely, Lou Lou. It was in fact some faux fur coats which caused me all that grief in December. Sadly it does seem that the customer has to chase THEM to see where the order is - and only then do they send the OOS email.

Great website when it works. When it doesn't, it's miserable. I am still waiting for the email I was promised back in mid-December, when I asked what was going wrong with all my orders.

Meant to point out that the "out of stock" size I was refunded for showed online when I hung up! Guessing that when stock is so low, the site gets buggy and phantom items appear longer than they should. (Happened with Debenhams and ASOS before).

But yes, the whole having to chase up a refund is pretty dodgy. You'd think they'd tell me the item was OOS sooner than 7 days.

On a brighter note, I love my Lola faux fur (bought it for £40 just before Xmas!), and I'm waiting on the Shana fur coat from the sale. One review said it made her look like "an oversized teddy bear" which made me giggle

Edit (10th Feb): My other order only had one coat (Melise) rather than two! Got a refund for it yesterday..stock seems very slow on the uptake, but again, it might be as it's Sale items?

The Melise coat I got my mum looks even nicer than mine!
