BA price promise what do you think? and Hooray they are now paying me out

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place

I logged on to the ba website around 1140pm on 2/8/07 and joined my family to the ba executive club. I then using my executive club number booked tickets for us to new york, in the early hours at 00.40am on 3/8/07). At 8am on 3/8/07 I did a check on the net and found them cheaper with airline network. So at 9 am on 3/8/07 I made a claim through ba price promise for a refund of the difference which was £32.

Their t/c say that the booking /cheaper price and the claim must be made by midnight of the same day.

Well I have now recieved a email from them stating that my claim is invalid due to my booking not being made on the same day. I suppose they are classing the fact that I logged on at 1123pm on 2/3/07 as the time of the booking, but I feel the booking was not made unto my credit card transaction took place which was on 3/8/2007 in the early hours. It's only £32 but feel they should pay, any suggestions?
Thanks

Well I have rejected their reason for not paying up and asked for them to email me the part in their t/c stating that they take the creation date and time of a booking and not the transaction payment date and time.

I can not find this in their t/c ;) and now awaiting their response.

missile I dont !!!! thats why I am pursuing this

To put it another way. You go into a shop. Pick up an item. Is it yours ? Of course not! Until you PAY for it.Id say at the time payment was recieved.

But as with Tesco, Easyjethotels, Travelex, Ryanair etc, price promises are simply an excuse to rip the public off, lulling them into a false sense of assurance that they are getting a bargain.
Pursue it, but for £32 , I wouldnt be spending too much time on it.

I agree with your post budgetflyer but just thought I'd make my point to them it's the principle and the devil in me likes the idea of being such a pain to them for such a small amount.
  • I have had a reply from the ba price promise team saying that they are unable to respond to my email "now thats a surprise" and have referred it on to the sales team who will email me shortly. I wonder why

One of the worst 'promises' is easyJet

    so many exclusions.

Totally agree. It's the time you made the purchase that counts, not some obscure time at which you logged onto the website.

One question, though - why did you check the Airline Network *after* you'd booked with BA?

I always do price checking within the 24hrs of booking flights, because of these price promises, proberly wont bother anymore.

I might even speak to oft about this and see if they can add my £32 onto the £200 million fine that they have just given them:rotfl:

    will keep you all updated
  • Hi people just thought I'd let you know just had a email from BA price promise team confirming that they will be refunding the £32 back on to my credit card. :j
