Hi all, I'm hoping somebody can advise. I recently paid for flights using my Santander credit card. However the bank didn't authorise the payment as it was an unusual activity. I rang the back to confirm it was me and was told the payment wouldn't go through and I would need to book again. I booked again and things went fine. However the day after I found that the payment was authorised and I have ended up with duplicate bookings!!
I have raised a dispute with the bank but they are slow at doing anything and I am now left with a large amount to pay!
Any advise on what my rights are would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance.

on the basis of what you have told us, it's clear: you tell the bank they have to correct their mistake.
who are 'the bank'?
and is the card payment to be taken by DD from a current account with the same bank?0 -

Hi thanks for the reply. It's Santander and yes the card payment will be taken from a DD from a current account with the same bank. I've asked them to put a hold on the payment until the dispute is dealt with but they say this can't be done. They suggest I pay the minimum payments and any charges will be refunded if they admit the blame. I'm just worried as I raised the dispute early Feb and they still don't have an update!0 -
There may be a bigger problem of having two flight bookings and being unable to cancel one of them - assume you have checked this out?0

I suspect that is what has happened, but it's only a problem for the OP if Santander don't refund one of the payments, and from what we've been told the fault does lie with them so they should refund. In which case the flight will belong to them, although they'll only be able to use it if they can find another LJW who wants to take it.0 -
well, from what you've said they ought to be able to identify what was said and accept that you were misadvised.0
