Primary and Secondary Credit cards

Can anyone clarify the following:

My estranged husband has credit cards, in which I am the secondary card holder. If he has defaulted on payments, I am aware he is responsible as the primary card holder.
He has told me that regards bad credit on his name, I too, as a secondary card holder have bad credit on my name.

Is this true?

No. The agreement is with him and I don't believe being a secondary cardholder creates a financial association.

If you have any joint accounts with him then yes, but not because of the credit card you had on his account. Credit cards are never joint accounts.

My understanding is the same as the posters previous to me. If we are talking about just credit cards, your status as secondary card holder entitles you to a card to use on that account but it does not make you liable for any of the debt and it will not be reported to your credit file.
