Credit Card Balance Transfer - payment duplicated in error!

As above.
In a nutshell; I signed up for a new interest free Tesco CC to transfer a balance I had on my Opus Card. When I applied for the card I requested the transfer. When I received my card there was a note saying no balance transfers would be done until I activated the card. I then activated the card. However, when I logged in and checked the balance transfer section to see if it had been done, there was nothing detailed even as pending, so I did another one (my fault). So I have now done the same balance transfer twice, and therefore overpaid the Opus card, leaving the account in credit to the amount of the 2nd incorrect BT.
I am now trying to recover the payment, and have spoken to both Tesco and Opus and both are being a pain in the ar*e about recalling/returning the payment. Who should be sorting this? Opus are saying they cannot return the payment it needs to be requested by Tesco, Tesco are saying that while they can recall the payment, it will take 6-8 weeks, but that Opus SHOULD be returning it, which would then only take 4 days or so. Are Opus being awkward or what? 6 phone calls now only to be given the same info..annoying! Ultimately it's my fault, but the Tesco process was not clear hence the initial error!
Thanks.

Please see other threads, this is happening to other people including me.
Opus cannot return the fee direct to Tesco i.e. credit card to credit card, but they have to refund your payment if it was paid in error , to a bank account of your choosing.
You can then just pay the Tesco card once you have that refund.
Don't even mention Tesco, as Opus only see it as a payment to their card. Just say you made two payments in error and need one refunding and they'll ask you for bank details.0 -
