Sky - help with dd taken on wrong day!

Not sure whether anyone can help on this one - i phoned and changed the date of payment from 28th Feb to 4th March - i received a text message saying the amount of £105. would be taken on 4th March - knowing that Sky are on the ball charging you up to date I accepted that. However on 28th Feb i found that sky had taken the original dd of £78 out. I called them and was told that that was correct and the extra £27 would be taken out on the 4th - I told them about receiving text and apparently that means nothing! The thing is the fact that they have taken it has meant 4 payments have bounced - leaving me £40 out of pocket. I have argued with them and they have credited £30 to the sky account but this still leaves me out of pocket - their answer was that the advisor should have told me that it would be taken out in two dds, they dont refund bank charges and that the £30 was a good will gesture. I have been with them for 7 years and am tied into a recontract with them til aug 14 for the television and feb 15 for the broadband and that i cannot break this. Just wondered if there was anything else i could do or should i just accept the 30 and leave it there. Thanks for reading xx

Sure - cancel the DD. If you are so close to the wire financially, you cannot be held to ransom in this way. You need to retain control of your finances and not let anyone help themselves when they want to. Sure, it'll cost you slightly more, but nothing like what you are paying now in bounce fees.0
