How would you package a 'soft' item going to Singapore

I am selling some used clothing and and have been asked if I can ship Singapore.
I previously sent an item overseas in a box and was told that the cost was so high, due to the weight of the box.
Would it be OK just to send the item in one of those poly bags, or maybe double up and use one inside the other ?
thank you !

I would put the item in a bag and expel the air out of it before putting it in a mailing bag. Should be fine.0

If you are selling more than one item postage can get expensive and impossible with Royal Mail over 2kg. Weigh and check the cost - don't guess!
This is a simple price calculator

After the end of the month there will be a large letter rate introduced internationally. Until then you you don't have to worry too much about the size of the parcel.0 -
most international carriers work on a formula of length x width x height / 5000 = dimensional weight and they give the greatest figure of actual weight or dimensional weight0
