I currently have my isa with the Halifax and am invested in the following Halifax funds
uk growth fund
uk equity fund
uk ftse all share index
European fund
far eastern fund
international growth fund
smaller companies fund
fund of investment trusts
im wondering if I would be better moving this to somewhere like iweb or Cavendish and picking my own funds
would I get better results?
would I pay less in fees
how would I know how to pick good funds that were spread over the correct assets

Halifax are unlikely to be the best for any of those funds.
Really depends what the fees are that you pay but elsewhere you can get 0.25% platform fee plus cheapest tracker around 0.07%
It does seem a bit of an odd mix with 3 different types of UK fund.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Most platforms will have 2000+ options which gives you tens or hundreds of thousands of permutations for your portfolio.
So, one way to select a platform is to firstly consider what particular funds you want to hold and then find the cheapest fee scale for that particular combination and portfolio size and ongoing purchase pattern. There are various platform comparison web pages or tools if you search for them on this forum or via Google. Similarly there are "model portfolios" on various platform websites or blogs.
That covers "where would be best to move to". As to the question "how would I know how to pick good funds that were spread over the correct assets": how did you do it last time and what is wrong with that approach for next time?0
