  • Had a call from a very helpful Sainsbury's Bank today confirming they'd received my letter and just checked I was still ok to continue making my agreed payments. They gave me two contact numbers and an address if I need to raise or lower my payments in future and put absolutely no pressure on me whatsoever. Bit of a breath of fresh air actually!! Even confirmed my balance which was a tiny bit lower than I realised and said if I get a lump sum in future they would discount the amount owed for any settlement figure.

See, if every creditor behaved in this way, DCA's would be out of business over night !!!

  • Still awaiting an update from Barclays about my complaint concerning fees and charges. Supposed to have a response within 5 working days so should have heard by now. Hmm, will wait and see if I get anything in the post today before escalating.

Before anyone jumps on it to say "Where are your food allowances et cetera?", my wife pays for the food out of her wages. I pay for all the household bills including car insurance for her. She pays for the running of her car and our finances are not linked except for the cash asset which is in a joint account.

My income also varies as I am paid unsocial hours allowance each month and I am paid overtime. I don't include this on my SOA as it is entirely variable.

  • Bat Out Of Hell 3 came out in 2006, sourcrates! Get with the times!

My new album is coming out this autumn and is called "Braver Than We Are" featuring songs by Jim Steinman, so if you like that Bat sound, this'll be a kicker!!

    Just mooching and saw above.
Have a listen to Original Sin's Pandora's Box. If you like Jim then you'll like this!

Believe me, I am aware of the existence of Pandora's Box and have a copy of it squirrelled away with my Meat Loaf collection. I also have Jim's album "Bad For Good" which would have been a Meat Loaf album had the big man been well enough at the time.

    Ah, love it.

  • So I have now had a letter from Barclaycard acknowledging that I am now going self-managed. I made no reference to payments changing or continuing although they had sent me a letter for each of my accounts requesting I contact them and settle the debt or they will default me. The new letter says please contact them to arrange payments again and I am tempted to give them a call and see if they will default me over the phone and then continue with payments as previously arranged.

  • Just spoken to Barclaycard, they should be defaulting me this month because I'm paying less than 1% of the balance for both my credit cards with them. That's a point of real interest because up until now I've not heard of the parameters around which they default people. They said I should have the default registered for December as that was 7 months after making reduced payments. I will keep an eye on my credit report next month to see. I have already stated to them I'll call up and chase it if there's no sign of it next month. They'll confirm my new payment plan (Which is the same as the old one, lasting 12 months) in writing, which is good.

I don't like phoning, but I can't deny it gets quicker results.

So now we need to move home, or rather, my OH wants to move home before the Summer because she finds the house we are currently living in too stifling in the Summer heat and worries that our wee baba will get too warm. The house is super-insulated and the last two Summers we've lived there it has been unbearably hot in there, even with all the windows open and the loft-hatch opened! I thought I had sorted this issue by getting an air con unit but she remains unsatisfied.

So now we're looking into moving and have potentially found a nice place about 20 minutes away from my work. We're hoping to look at it this coming week after I finish work one day. Only issue is I'm worried that a credit reference check, if one is done by the letting agent, will reveal that I have defaulted payments to my creditors. Anyone know if that is the case? Does it shoe defaults, or does it just show if you've been I an IVA, Bankrupt or have CCJ's?
