Hello just a warning and help needed.
Over a few years purchased a lot of oak furniture from them,
The other day noticed holes in top of high fi unit looked around the unit and found about 60 holes did research as the holes only appear to stay within the planks and don’t spread to the adjoining planks.
What I am trying to say is that a top piece is made up of lots of glued planks pressed and then planed to give you one large panel , if you look at any surface of there furniture you will see this, lots of wood is used in this way its the norm.
Now back to were I was so the holes do not go over into the next plank as this is not infected,
The way the wood is infected is at the wood yard when the wood is stored wrong the powder post beetle lays it babies (LOL) at this point and at no other time as waxed, varnised, painted hardwood can not be infected.
Now in there defense
oaklandfurniture would not know that there wood has this until a few years down the line and can take up to ten years for this powder post beetle to hatch out and eat your furniture as its feeding on starch.
So the outcome from the was yes we agree the wood was infected at time of storage but we don’t give a dam as you are past six years even though the beetle can take up to ten years to hatch. Nice aren’t they.
That’s how they treat there customers we’ve brought this thing into your house we know its our fault but why should we care the law is on our side (or is it)
Also it would be nice if martin had a say as he is on there web site saying how good they are I think you should read the complaints about them out there, cant leave bad comments on the face book page its taken down in about 1 minuet must have someone just working on face book all day to remove complaints.
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be great.
sorry about the long rank had to tell full story.
Dean

Now here is the good bit you ring them and they say oh youve got woodworm no you yell its post powder beatle
Powder Post beetle is a type of woodworm, as is:
    Common furniture beetle
    Death watch beetle
    House Longhorn beetle
    Wood Boring Weevil etc
    They're all classed as woodworm.

How have you identified it as powder Post?

Hello thank you for pointing that out to me I have just corrected the post.
The reason I know its PPB is because of the size of hole and how it has not infected adjoining boards all other wood worm feed on damp rotten wood with bad ventilation and would re-infest in the same area and other woodworm only feeds on soft wood this is hard wood so that’s how its been ruled out plus I have spoken to two pest controllers who have said the same.
