searches will only show 12 months, or 2 years if call creditDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Paulw922: thanks for the support. I feel bad enough for getting into this mess without having people rubbing it in.
I really wouldn't concern yourself with the comments of the likes of nicholaswitchell. This poster seems to enjoy rubbing people up the wrong way if you look at some of his other posts in the forums.
There are a lot of people on here who will offer you help and encouragement to sort out your problems. You may not like the actual answers to some of the questions, but that is a completely different issue to rudeness which is unnecessary.
Good luck sorting out your problem and don't give up using the forum, there are a lot of people on here with good advice.0 -
I decided on a different approach based on the new caps which state that no one will ever pay back more than twice the amount they took out. I contacted mr lender who I took a £300 loan with 3 years ago. My outstanding balance was around £500. I told them I was charged over £400 in charges and have also paid back over £300 whilst being in the DMP and asked for a refund of the difference between twice my original balance and what I have already paid and to wipe off the remaining balance. They refused to refund the charges but because of my 3 years of continued payments and that they did want to help me out they have wiped off the remaining £500! I didn't expect to get anything but very happy with this. All in less than a day too. Definitely worth a try if you are in the same kind of situation.0

Nice one,
Back to your original point. I don't think you will get anywhere with the credit check thing because as has been pointed out one thing a credit check will not tell them is your income. You tell em that. and maybe like most people you were 'favourable' in what you told em.:-)
Yes it would have shown that you had a bad credit history but if you were applying for a payday loan then thats of course a given!
It seems like you have found a better and successful way of approaching it. Let us know how you get on with the others.£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000

Success with another! Remaining balance was £263 but they have investigated my claim and removed charges and interest leaving me with £98 remaining.0

Dexter I think you are completely wrong with the attitude here and for someone that openly applies for a loan with the full intention of causing problems when you know the exact amount that is required to be paid back is just plain ignorant, If I had my way I would put you on a black list so that you apply and get refused by every lender.
It is yourself at fault and nobody else here as you are able to read the full T&C'S when applying yet believe you are indeed something special that is not required to pay charges, Simple solution here is to sort out your finances and stop using payday loans completely, The reason why charges on these are high is because of people like you that feel it is okay to take the mick with repayments.
If you are old enough to take a loan out then you are old enough to repay it in full, Your attitude towards the loan Company's here is so wrong and I believe that you are just out for what ever you can get.0 -
Of course it's his fault and he knows it, but that doesn't make the payday loan companies riht or completely innocent. If they were doing such a wonderful job they wouldn't have had their wings clipped, their charges were ridiculous, we all know they are there for a loan to last a few days and for that, if you were able to pay back by the end of the week, in principle the concept is fine.
It falls apart dramatically when people are in financial difficulty and usually have zero intention or ability to repay that week or even that month, it becomes used as a typical loan only it is anything but typical and will haunt you for years. People moan about 39.9% APR credit cards and advise people on these forums to clear them each month, sub-prime cards are almost providing interest free credit in comparison to payday loans.
Dexter like pretty much everyone else who took out a payday loan or 5 knows it was a big mistake, but for most there were few options, it was too easy to do and too hard to get out of.
Should they be looking for loopholes to get out of paying? I think it's fair if they want to give it a try, the loan companies are not squeaky clean and innocent and will do all they can to attract customers and get their money back with considerable interest. These guys use puppets, cartoons and advertised during children's TV programmes, they are not angels.
I do think Dexter was trying it on, he would have been unlikely to get away with his argument, but if he wanted to try what's it got to do with anyone else? If he's in the wrong he will lose. Should he lie? No, but just because you knew the risk doesn't mean you are in the wrong and should be punished. People with addictions know they shouldn't drink, gamble, take drugs etc but they still do, they know how dangerous it is but they carry on, doesn't make them bad people.
If the loan companies were completely innocent and their rates were fair they wouldn't be writing off the debt, if I called Barclaycard and said I wasn't happy with my APR and asked them to do something they may give me a discount but no way would they write off my balance, they shouldn't as its fair. Payday loans are many things, fair is not one of them.
I guess some people just love to give people a hard time, a bit of a kick when they are down. Others extend a hand.0 -
m4rc, Get real will you I do not think Dexter was trying it on !!!
I mean seriously somebody that takes a loan whilst in debt and in payment plans has obviously no intention of trying to pay back on time as these loans are geared up to be, As for blaming the loan Company's did they hold a gun to his/her head no they did not and only person to blame is the liberty taker wanting a free lunch.0 -
Thanks to all the posts of I've got this, I've got that...
It blows me and my family apart, every time for all the hype and !!!!! posted out there
The FOS and likes very late with being the Payday loans 'critical friend' and they are over compensating now, you can't expect folk not to use this?0 -

Are you having to pay it back? Not sure why people get so wound up by it, if it was your money then fine - blow a gasket, but for the majority of people it's just a good opportunity to rant and rage over something that really doesn't impact their life.
Pick a problem - plenty of them out there - and use your energy to help fix it, that's a good use of a life. Having a go at someone for trying to save some money doesn't make a lot of sense, especially on a website dedicated to and named after saving money...0
