bank accounts with no credit check

just a quick question, are there any easy to open bank accounts that dont require a credit check on your file. my personal thought would be any easy cash type account as you cant get an over draught on these and i presume that logic means no credit check. any help would be great. thanks

    Hello there,

This was posted above the main sub-forum and may be of use to you:

It seems your best bet would be either Barclays Bank or the Co-Op as according to the bumph posted there neither of them conduct credit checks.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

I didn't know that Heng; I was going by the table Martin had listed on the section of the MSE website.

Edit: it says "No credit check is needed but Barclays may carry out an identity check with a credit reference agency whereas the Co-Op do carry out an ID check.

With Barclays you'd have to apply in branch, you can call the Co-Op for an application form.

It has been noted on here by applicants.

There seems to be a preference by banks to do a general current account app and then offer basic account at that stage, if appropriate.
