Car insurer wont add second driver
Hi All
I have my car insurance with Alliance, they were the cheapest tbh !
But after taking out insurance with them I feel as if there are too many restrictions.
Firstly they did not let me have my Glasses Tinted, saying if i do so they will cancel my insurance, i said i can pay for that but they did not agree.
now when i try to add my wife to my policy they denied saying that she hasnt held her license for more than 3 years.
I just want to know, is this case with most of insurers or Alliance are some spl case ?
Can i get my wife added to my policy or do i have to cancel my insurance with them and go with some other provider ?

If Alliance have said that they don't wish to provide cover for your wife (something that they are perfectly at liberty to say), then you will have no option to try another insurer.
It's the same with the window tinting. If it was on a new vehicle and done by the manufacturer then they might have accepted it, but tinting done by a third party can often be a bit hit and miss and it could possibly make the windows too dark, hence illegal.
All insurers have a target customer, and alliance obviously don't want drivers with little experience or cars that have been modified from standard.0 -

thats what i dont understand, why would they want to loose a customer ?0 -

Because their underwriters would have decided that someone with less than 3 years driving experience poses too much of a risk to make the potential profit from the premium worthwhile.0 -

My insurer keep prices down by not covering risky drivers or risky postcodes.
They wont cover drivers under 25 and even then only if you have driven a car of similar size and performance for at least a year.
They can have whatever terms they want. If it doesnt suit your needs then you need to go elsewhere.
First time i used them i enquired about adding a lerarner than it was a big NO.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
