Hey All,
I'm jetting off to Australia & NZ for a few weeks and want to keep in touch with people at home using a web SMS service to send free text messages to UK mobiles.
I've googled for help on this but there seem to be lots of "free" services that look a little dodgy and I dont trust.
Has anyone used any of free text messaging services and can confirm if any of these are completely free?
Thanks.

I use cbfsms.com for texts to the UK, not sure about abroad but give it a shot.
only downside is that the sites really busy to it sometimes tells you to come back later0 -
Thanks. I have given this site a shot but only managed to send one message, it seems to be very busy as you say.
Do you know if replies made to the messages completely free on this service?0 -
If you or anyone in your family has an Orange SIM card, you can get thirty messages per month(per SIM card) via their website.
02 give you ten. I don't think that you need to have an o2 phone.0 -

Thank you!!
I can send messages from the website and have them delivered as if they are from my phone. I usually have 750 free messages per month, which I can now send through the website.
Thanks again!0 -
If you have a BT home phone line account, you can send 50 free sms messages a month. Not 100% sure if it will work by accessing the site from outside the UK but worth a try.
This is the service here.0 -
Perfect....thanks to all who have helped.
Time to leave for the airport :j0 -
https://www.callwavesms.com - they even have a FREE Mac OSX Widget for your F12 page - links into your address book, and their outgoing texts appear to come from YOUR number! :-)0
