Re assessed black horse claim surprising success

Just thought I'd share in case anyone else gets a surprise letter. I put in a claim to black horse last year on a really old loan I wasn't sure if we had ppi but I thought it was worth investigating.
I sent the questionnaire then got a letter to say the never recieved it and because it was over 28 days they saw it as closed. I never bothered going to the FOS as I thought it was a dead end as I still wasn't sure if we had ppi.

Fast forward a year! And a letter came in the post today my claim had been re assessed ! And now they are paying out £2.5k over the moon just thought I'd share in case anyone else was in a simat position. :money:

Great news, as if an old loan it must have been pre regulation and if Blackhorse rejected the complaint FOS could not look at it, so it gives us all hope. Can I ask did you have the original loan documents or account number?
  • No I didn't just my address for where I lived at the time they found all the details

I gave Blackhorse all my details at the time I had the PPI policy, even the vehicle registration and they said they could not find anything.
It was under their old name RIGP Finance ltd. Was yours, and when you say really old, may I ask what year you took it out? Thanks

  • Hi can anyone advise ? I tried to get a PPI refund from Blackhorse Finance for a number of loans from 1996. I used a well known agent and they were unable to help. Black Horse say they have no record of my loans. I do not have an account number but I have bank statements showing debit card payments. I hope I have not posted this on the wrong thread, if so I apologise, as this is the first time I have posted. Any advice will be appreciated.

If neither of you have any records your complaint is over.

Did you send a SAR and £10 to see what they have left?

  • Hi thank you for helping me. No I haven't personally sent the form, I presume the agent dealing with it did though. I just feel that Black Horse have the information but are being obstructive. I have proof of payments but not an account number. It's probably worth trying to trace the loans by paying the £10. Thank you again for your help

Was the loan through Black Horse or through a broker?
In other words, who did you buy the loan from and when was it?

And when you say agent, do you mean you have employed a CMC and they have already complained?

And they are not being obstructive. It would the same if I told you you owed me money but I didn't have any proof I'd given it to you......
