installing Netgear router problems

I'm using my new netgear DG834G v3 to setup my internet connection from smart wizard installation. When I reach the page where I change my password and then click next. It then trys to connect to this page http://www.routerlogin.com/ca/setup.cgi but it never loads up and just stays like that. Does anyone know what is happening

    Open a internet explorer window.

On the address line at the top enter 192.168.0.1 and press return

That should bring up the router login screen. if it doesnt, press stop and then refresh - that usually works.

    whilst connected to the router..

    start, run, cmd
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig

what do you get from the last ipconfig?

it should look something like this

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

do you have a software firewall installed?

Are you sure? It's been 192.168.0.1 on my last two netgear routers. (one of them was a DG834G V2)

Edit: the manual for V3 also states 192.168.0.1

Actually I just realize this is only happening to my Vista PC. It seems to be fine on my old PC. Although on the packaging it did say it supported vista?

If the router is already setup from using your old pc, what exactly are you trying to do with your vista pc? The router only needs to be set up once, after that you only have to enter the wireless settings for you wireless card/dongle.

Makes no difference it being Vista. Are you using onboard network adapter? I found that even though Vista installed drivers for mine automatically, it did the same as yours. Installed drivers from the motherboard manufacturers site and all was OK.
