Panoramic glass roof not covered

I have just discovered that the panoramic glass roof of my Honda Jazz is not covered under my PREMIUM M&S car insurance. The roof is not an optional extra on the car, but is specifically excluded from the glass insurance. To replace it will cost upwards of £1300. I've had to claim under accidental damage on my policy which counts as a claim and has a higher excess. With these roofs becoming more popular, even on economy vehicles, I wanted to warn other MSEs to check policies or maybe go for a car without one of these roofs.

Normal windscreen repairs count as a claim too. Although not one that affects the NCD but it is a declarable claim and does usually pop the annual premium up.

I was reading through my new policy booklet on Froday and it also has this exclusion (I don't have a car with it).

I guess really, the onus is on you as all exclusions will be listed in the policy terms that you were sent out.

It is covered, its just not covered under the Glass section

M&S car insurance was just a rebadge of Budget Insurance Brokers last time I checked, always thought it an odd brand batch.

As always you need to be careful over generalisations like this.

Windscreen claims don't usually affect NCD but it's down to your own insurer's policy.

You need to check the wording of the actual policy to see what affect a windscreen claim will have on your NCD.

(eg With Axa you lose the eligibility for any increase in NCD following a windscreen replacement claim)
