Need to find out current vehicle prices

There isn't one. Pricing will be all over the place based on dozens of factors. I guess glass will give you a finger-in-air figure but no closer than that.0

Just look on Autotrader, most cars list the insurance group, not that that's necessarily a great deal of help.0

A car in group 5 insurance may cost more to insure than a car in group 10.
Its just a rating on how much it will cost to repair. It doesnt take into account how many claims insurers with that type of vehicle.
Lots of learners seem to buy a Corsa, And lots of them crash them so they are not that cheap to insure.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Is it not just a rating on how much it costs to repair.
The insurance groupings also take into account performance, safety and security of the vehicle.0 -

They also look at the number of seats and likely use of the vehicle so MPV vehicles are more to insure than the hatch back it is based on ie scenic costs more than megane because the scenic is more likely to be driven with 5 people on board as opposed to the megane which will most likely only carry two people.0 -

Didn't realize that, seems like a real minefield when purchasing a mobile tin can . Will factor that in when buying.0 -
Go no to ebay and search for cars that have sold (trouble is most are now classifieds) and that will give you a good indication. You can then add a small percentage if you like.
Autotrader only gives you what people are praying they can sell it for.0 -

In my experience you are more likely to sell a car through Autotrader.
Ebay seems to be full of idiots that think they can buy for pennies but then expect the car to be brand new.0 -

But the vast majority of cars on Autotrader are at dealers, and that'll give the OP a reasonable idea of the sort of prices that are being asked at the places they are most likely to be trying, unless they decide to only look at Private sales.0 -
Aye but you need to aggregate prices from as many sources as possible and then you know the car should be worth eg £4k-£5k and if it is on autotrader or elsewhere at £6k is probably overpriced.
When I was looking for a figure of how much our current car was worth it ranged from £11k at dealers to about £7k on ebay. This then gave me an indication of what I could bid at auction (copart) I used £8k as my base and that left me a little breathing room. I decided I could pay between £4-£4.2k in the end I paid £4.4k as I had already spent a month bidding on cars and being outbid and was getting a tad desperate.0
