Great news. I have bought a Fitbit too and find it really motivated. I have nearly 100lbs to lose! I find the diet most challenging and apparently this accounts for 80percent of weight loss.

It all depends on how seriously you want to take the weight loss, but I'd start with the basics, walking and swimming (which will be much easier on your joints).

If you find motivation is a problem then a good personal trainer at any level of fitness is worth their weight in gold (as I've recently found out!)
  • Walking and swimming, but dont forget to build it up as you get fitter (health permitting of course).

Walking - easy on your joints, you set your own pace, good for your mental health ... and it's free!

Great advice. I am around 3 stones overweight and was ill over the Christmas period where I put on an extra 10lbs:eek:
However, the last three weeks has seen me walking between 6 and 10 miles a day again, plus cutting down to two meals a day, and I have lost nearly a stone in that time.

Blimey what an achievement ! It's not just the weight loss, it's good cardio-vascular exercise and good to strengthen bones (osteoporosis runs in our family and weight-bearing exercise has been advised).

What a great weight loss! You must feel good that it's heading in the right direction but please don't eat too little or the loss may slow down (if the body doesn't know it's getting fed regularly it can cling onto the fat) I eat 5x a day (3 meals, 2 snacks) and have lost 3st this year so far so I promise it won't be a problem so long as each meal isn't 3k calories! (I have had a few of those in my time it seems!)

I have to say the last couple of days have seen the weight "plateau" a bit, and this morning I was a couple of pounds heavier. It is also chucking it down with rain at the moment, so I hope that clears up, because I hate starting a long walk when it is raining hard.

Thanks, my breathing feels a lot better, and I can even breath through my nose walking up hills, instead of gasping for air through my mouth.
