Hi there - I've just changed my perfume, I like my new one but am still desperately searching for one I smelled on someone last summer (sorry if that sounds weird, I'm kicking myself for not asking what IT was at the time!).
It was a summery, maybe fruity perfume. I've been testing some perfumes at boots and not yet found it, so am wonder (hoping!) that it's less posh than your Chanel etc and therefore cheaper.
Can anyone give me suggestions on what it might be?
Tia

I'm a fan of fruity perfumes and whenever people come into where I work certain ones have always stood out. Most recently was Chance pink by Chanel according to the customer but I've yet had a chance to test it myself. The stand out summery fruity perfume last summer was believe it or not Britney Spears midnight fantasy (in the blue bottle) I could always smell it on people in the shop, it's sort of sweet and fruity, some people say it's like Parma violets. It's pretty cheap too so def give your wrists a spritz and let It wear in and see what you think.. Apart from that light blue by d&g I always thought was fairly summery, again sort of sweet citrus smelling. Hope that might help a little bit, I can never tell by sniffing perfumes from the bottle so I've always bought them based picking up the scent of other people like a little perfume hound! :rotfl::j:j My Savings Goal: £10,000 by 2020 :j:j

OP I want to help but as I'm sure you're aware the description you've given is really vague!
I wondered if you could tell us the context of the perfume you said you were looking for, it could help to describe the sort of person wearing it, may help us to try to stereotype a bit! (Eg someone with a Mulberry handbag and looking smart is less likely to be wearing a knock-off CKOne or similarly someone who looks very young and wearing a preppy style outfit is less likely to be wearing a very old fashioned perfume and is more likely to be wearing an off the peg even shop made eg Gilly Hicks or River Island or Superdry's own made) So if you can remember how the person wearing it was styled maybe that could help.
Also if you can say the sorts of perfumes you like and don't like then we know what sort of area/sort of perfume you may be looking for.
And lastly if you've been looking elsewhere and have already tried a few it definitely isn't or what is along the same lines/close.
Also remember that a perfume will 'wear' differently on each person, initially smelling the same on everyone but after an hour or two will smell differently depending on the person wearing it.
A few summery perfumes you could try are...
Philosophy (they have a few types), Liz Earle (there are three types and each are floral) Dipdyque (floral scents but some are discontinued after a few years, not cheap but some really nice scents and very floral scents) Calvin Klien tend to have a few summer scents each year to look out for. Take a look at Chanel if your instincts hint at it; there are some wannabe scents which some may be able to advice.
Basenotes http://www.basenotes.net/fragrancedirectory/ is a site which lists the scents and what is in them scent wise, there are MANY on the site but it could at least shove you in the right direction.0 -
Agree with previous poster about Basenotes.
The thing is most perfume houses bring out limited edition summer fragrances each year. Once its gone its gone.
Boots has very limited space for perfumes, you need to try department stores, even local chemists.0 -
Thanks all! Yes I know it's a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack... In terms of context, it was on a nurse in hospital and was a lingering perfume that hung around for a while.
Unfortunately my usual perfumes smell awful on me at the moment (probably down to hormones...) but this was one I remember liking. I've tried the usual suspects in boots, Thierry muglar, Gucci, etc but perhaps you're right and I need to get over to selfridges0 -
Try Marc Jacobs perfumes, he tends to do fruity,I have Lola that, like you I noticed on somebody, but unlike you,I asked her what it was.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Nina Ricci, Nina was the thing that popped into my head when I read this. That could be because it is in an apple shaped bottle though!
It does still have a fruitiness to it so might be worth a try.0 -
Clarins make a lovely perfume that has grapefruit/citrus-y notes, very fresh and light which is lovely for summer. It's called Eau des Jardins and is reasonably priced.

Maybe it was CHERRY BLOSSOM EAU DE TOILETTE - L'OCCITANE EN PROVENCE, by Loccitane or one of their other summery ones, they smell lovely0

Juicy Couture Malibu (in the orange bottle not the pink) - that's a nice fruity summery one, I had some last year:
Top notes: Watermelon, Tangerine, Blackcurrant, Pink Passion Fruit, Sparkling Green Apple
Heart notes: Wild Rose, Water Lily, Jasmine Petals, Frangipani
Base notes: Creamy Musks, Precious Woods, Tiare BlossomOver futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame
Love is a losing game0 -

From your post I can instantly recognise "Pomme de Frottage". Last time I came across it was in John Lewis exclusively.
Sorry if this is out of your price range.0
