Any bird spotters around?

For the past couple of weeks as I've gone down the back lane, I've seen a bird in the sky and I'm trying to identify it. I can't photograph it as it's only visible on the bend and I can't stop the car.

It's striking because it appears motionless in the sky for a while before dilly dallying with the wind. You would think it was suspended by a wire as it can be so still. It's above fields but close to a very large oak tree. It's always on it's own and is quite large. It has an unusual silhouette. Like an angel. I'm thinking a bird of prey. Can anyone give me a clue so I can google it?
