When I hit a wire like that, it just tripped the switch and when I put it on again it all just worked. My brother tried to explain, saying something about electricity going both ways. It didn't make sense to me but I've not had problems since. I had electricians in the house too and they weren't worried either.

Thanks, been down and fitted the blind all works well just need some cord to act as a pulley. :)

Unfortunately a power wire has been hit. I've not tried turning the electric on and off, however the electrician is coming next week to set the range cooker up so I'll consult him, it's all just been freshly plastered, so I really, really, really hope the issue can be resolved with minimum disruption. However I am going to try your trick of turning the power off and back on at the fusebox. So fingers crossed! :D

Just been to A's done 2 identical shops with APG's SA didn't bat an eyelid :) No oils unfortunately :( Still no SEL's on carex either. Results due at 12:30am and I'll post then as I'm working till 1am :(
