A small accountancy glitch which might help someone who is struggling towards the end of the month.

I am with Scottish power, paying by monthly direct debit and I was on a fixed rate tariff that finished at the end of February. So I got all of my figures together but I put off looking at who or what to switch to until the back end of the month.

I decided to stay with Scottish Power and I switched to another tariff on February 20th - only a week before the expiry date of the previous contract.

Today I put metre readings into the system online and noticed that my direct debit payment had not gone out for March 1st so I rang them up. They said that because I had switched so late in the month, the previous direct debit was cancelled, the new direct debit is due to come in on April 1st and my payments had been spread over 11 months instead of 12.

so as I've not paid a electric direct debit for March I am £74.44 richer this month :j

OK I know its not a fortune but its something to bear in mind if you are also about to change your tariff, wait until later in the month - I know some of us are on very tight budgets and the last week in the month the coffers are empty.

Incidentally last week I booked a few days with OH (despite his slovenly habits) and the b and b cost me £75 so I've already spent what I've saved on electric :rotfl:
that will only help now, to be paid in future months. you haven't saved the £74.44 just delayed paying it. for instance at a later date your dd's may change to £80 to cover it.

I've just got to the bottom and caught up with all posts. I know I've said it already, but I really appreciate the birthday messages. You are all such a friendly bunch.

I'm off to T's for BNI soon so I will report back with results later.

yes I know its only delaying the inevitable and you do pay it eventually if someone is having a really bad financial month then an extra £74.44 would bridge the gap until pay day - we have been in this situation on goodness knows how many occasions :D

Could someone please let me know what size box cncf I should be looking for. I know its not the 500g and in my head I have 375g (but I don't recall seeing any 375g boxes so am doubting myself!

Supposed to be working otherwise I would go searching through posts.

    Thank you :)
Yes 375g is the right cncf. Not normal stock I don't think brought in for special 3 for £3 promotion and has been on the end of the aisle by the cereal

Can you return HD Items to store? The Mrs took the delivery and didn't realise the OOS mitcham had been swapped with something not on the 3/£5, so charged £9 instead of £5. Also no UDI's :( Thankfully I selected no subs on it, so I didn't end up with some full priced inedible cardboard

Don't fancy calling CS after yesterdays APG :D:D:D

Trubster - I wonder if it was you who cleared the shelves of cobra beers in Sheffield when they were glitching? :D. If you are passing M'field way again, the S-in-A Sada has plenty of travel triggers for Radox - did my first shop yesterday.

I wasn't aware of this world when the cobra beers were glitching. I am very new to this.

There seems to be plenty of us about in Sheff, all the triggers are disappearing quickly. S-in-A is a quiet store, well stocked and is a good one for night time wombles :D

Thanks for that, I will take them in on my next visit. The price match substitutions is a con, if you buy 10 tins of beans on BOGOF 50p, they sub for another brand at 60p each, you will pay 50p each but not get the promotion, so it would cost you double even though they "Price Match"
