Having defaults removed anyone please help..

Hi everyone.

i was wondering if i could pick your brains again who are in the know or can shed some light on my situation?

My credit file at the start of the year had 9 defaulted accounts in may this will be down to just 3 outstanding, All of the accounts will be paid up to date on the 15th of this month with nothing owed on the accounts.

My question was is there any way i can have these 3 remaining bad previous defaults removed from my file? There are 3 remaining one for £130 (halifax) 1 for £500 (lowell) and 1 for £230 (capital 1) one is 5 years old the other 2 are just over a year old, however on the 15th nothing will be owed.

My reasoning behind not paying was basically between travelling, bad jobs moving address and been generally being very poor and never realising how bad the accounts were until getting back into the country and one i believed was paid in full turns out was not even though at the time i was told the PPI i was due back would cover the cost of the debt so basically Halifax (the £130) told me i was due PPI i claimed but as i had debt outstanding this would cover it and pay in full and it turns out it remained on my credit file.

If anyone knows or has any advice in the process i was guessing it was worth a try.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards.

You can ask for them to be removed but don't get your hopes up. They are a true reflection of how you ran your financial accounts.

Defaults stay on your file for six years from default date, not settlement. When you pay will (or should) be marked as 'satisfied' but unfortunately the default remains on file until the six years are up. You can, as DCFC79 says, ask for them to be removed but unless there is a error or mistake it is very unlikely. Once satisfied defaults are old you can start to get some credit products again but these will usually be specialist ones. TBH, you are going to have problems until they have all disappeared.

Too right! Been there, done that.

It can run your life for years but look at it this way, you are dealing with the matter and you are getting there...
