Absolutely, but what if the connecting service has no 1st class but is supposed to, are you entitled to a (partial) refund of the non 1st class part of your journey?
(I believe this would probably be calculated on a percentage basis, based on the mileage, rather than comparing the fares for the relevant segments of the journey, though I am uncertain on that)0 -
If you do not have your PI number then do not book tickets using the card - you would need the PIN to collect them.
In fact, you don't always even need the same card - another in your name has worked before. If you are sceptical of that, then you won't believe this: I once booked a ticket with EMT using my mother's debit card yet collected it from a machine using my own! Maybe only the surname has to be the same.alistairstubbs wrote: »On my ticket it stipulates the train from Crew0 -

I would guess OP meant the same as we had last week.
Our ticket was Liverpool lime street to south London.
The cheap ticket gave us a complete a - b timetable, Liverpool to Crewe to Euston, tube to Victoria then train to home.
Only part reserved was Crewe to Euston
Had two tickets one said Liverpool to south london, specified train only, but actually doesn't mention any times.
Then the second ticket said 16.30 Crewe to London Euston, and had seat numbers. Both tickets said they could only used together.
I checked at Liverpool was was told I could get any train from Liverpool to Crewe, and any train from Euston to my final destination. But I had to be on the specified train for the reserved part from Crewe to London.
So I presume that's the ticket OP referred to? When he said it stipulates the train from Crewe?0 -

OK Technically you are correct, but what it does say on the ticket is that it must be used with a reservation and on the reservation it stipulates the train from Crew0 -

The card does not have to be related at all. The company I work for book our tickets on line with the company credit card, We then collect them just using our own cards and have never had a problem.0 -

It depends entirely on the company you are booking with.
They decide whether or not the original card should be presented or not. I imagine the company you work for has an account with TheTrainLine (or some other ticket seller) and it obviously makes sense for the traveller to use their own card.
It really is not a good idea to make a sweeping generalisation like "the card does not have to be related at all", when it is only based on your particular experience.0 -

Sorry I only gave one example, I know of several friends and family who also do this. Every time the site says you must use the card that you used to purchase the tickets yet I have not come across one yet where another card has not worked. I am sure I have read on the rail forum that this works also but may be wrong on this.0 -

When you insert the card to collect a ticket, only the magstripe is read.Kernel_Sanders wrote: »In fact, you don't always even need the same cardKernel_Sanders wrote: »- another in your name has worked before. I am not convinced they even store the name of the cardholder? (The cardholder name does not have to match the name associated with the account on the booking site)Had two tickets one said Liverpool to south london, specified train only, but actually doesn't mention any times. Then the second ticket said 16.30 Crewe to London Euston, and had seat numbers. Both tickets said they could only used together.
In the new ticket format, the reservations are shown on the ticket.I checked at Liverpool was was told I could get any train from Liverpool to Crewe, and any train from Euston to my final destination. But I had to be on the specified train for the reserved part from Crewe to London.0 -
Yorkie,
Was trying to explain (not very well) to kernal as he questioned op's statement about his ticket saying from Crewe.0 -
