on JSA but received a job offer

Hello..

Just wanted to ask for some advice please, if anyone has been in a similar situation.

Currently I am on JSA, but I have received a job offer which I happily accepted , however, the job is due to start 7th april. I am also yet to receive paperwork (which is meant to be this week).
My question is - I am due to sign on Tuesday, will I still get paid JSA until I actually start this job?

If you want to keep receiving JSA then you have to keep searching for jobs, going to interviews etc until the job starts and only then do you sign off.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I would carry on as you are until you actually start the job.Unfortunately some jobs get withdrawn ad start dates can change especially as you have yet to have it all in writing.

Well done on getting a job. I hope you enjoy your new job.

You will only receive JSA while you leave your claim open, and are actively seeking work.

You can still claim JSA after accepting a job offer - right up until the day you start- providing you're still actively seeking work.

So keep signing on until early April - conducting job searches and providing evidence as usual. Sign off once you start the job.

As others have said, even though you have been given a start date, for JSA purposes you have to keep searching for other jobs in order to continue receiving your benefit. Otherwise you will be treated as not satisfying the rules for getting JSA.

Indeed, I would go as far to advise you that you don't mention being offered the job when you sign on on Tuesday. A friend of mine was offered a job a couple of months ago with a start date two weeks later. She went to sign on and mentioned getting the job to her Personal Adviser / Work Coach who congratulated her. Then the PA must have made a question of availability referral to a Decision Maker as the next thing that happened is that her JSA was stopped. She then had to live on fresh air while trying to buy clothes etc to start her job.

Congrats on getting the job though - just don't tell the JobCentre until April 7!

I told jobcentre about my job offer but said there was a few checks to do first but I haven't been stripped of my jsa as I'm continuing to search.
