MSN Critical Update

I use windows 98. I use Zonealarm but keep getting message flashes saying MSN Critical Update is trying to access the network. I keep denying this but they appear every 5 minutes or so. How do I stop them as its really annoying. This is a second hand system I got from a friend who was binning it. I don't have any the original installation disks etc so basically I am stuffed if it all goes wrong - but so far its fine for what I need.

I would allow the Critical Update function to access the internet. It means that Microsoft have some software which needs to be downloaded to fix a security flaw. It should mean safer surfing!0

It could also be a virus, spyware/adware. If your system is running fine then just next time it pops up tick the 'remember this' and say no. There is a way of turning Win98's update off but I can't remember it sorry. Can anyone else?0

If you don't use and don't want to use MSN you could uninstall it from your computer using add/remove programmes (assuming you can do this on 98).Torgwen..........

Your best bet is to uninstall MSN and if required download the new version.
If you still get the problem after that then you may have spyware running.0
